NiMh AAAL 750mAh Question

I took 4 NiMh AAAL batteries out of a cell phone. I checked the batteries voltage with a multimeter and they show no voltage. These batteries have just sat in the cellphone for a few years... Would it be alright to try and charge them up? They haven't even been used that much. They fit my Maxell charger perfectly in the AA slots. The Maxell is supposed to be able to sense the batteries charge and cut off when done.

My say is that would be perfectly fine. Worst case scenario, the battery would still be dead anyway.

Right, and if the charger refuses to charge the completely flat cell (which it probably will), you can try a jolt to the cell to "wake" it up.

-Accomplished by inserting the cell in series with at least 2 additional charged (any size) cells, and by deliberately reversing the usual polarity of the dead cell in the series.
