NIMH in high spec leadlight?

Is it safe to use NIMH batteries in a high spec leadlight laser?

I just friend an emitter in my 3C Mag mod and I definately do not want to fry my expensive laser. Thanks.

I checked with AtlasNova on my 11.4 & he said it was ok not only to use NiMH, but an external AA NiMH battery pack is ok too, (using the remote switch). I use mine camping & made it more shock/dust resistant also.
