I just got my Nitecore Extreme the other day and I'm very happy with it. However, the clicky switch broke after about an hour, so how do I change it?

Hi Slemmo and :welcome:

Around the rubber boot covering the switch you can see a black metallic ring with two slots. By using needle nosed pliers or a pair of scissors (carefully!) you have to unscrew the ring and take out the switch. Then you can easily replace it with one of the spares.
I have done it and it is really very simple. :)

Thanks, I fear that my entry here is the beginning of something very expensive :D
I'll change it when i come home from work today.

By the way, are there any alternative switches that can be used that are failsafe?

You could do what a lot of people around here are doing with the NCE head: stick it on another body. I run mine on a VitalGear FB1 or FB2 body (depending on mood :D)... some people put them on SureFire E-Series bodies, etc:

Just remember to only use a single li-ion cell like the 17670 if you use a body that is 2-cell length. If you actually use 2 cells you'll kill the head.

Changing the body looks interesting, and I think I might pick up a Vital Gear body.
I'm still interested in other options for clickys though, or maybe change tail cap if it's possible?

Why don't you see how the customer service is and ask them to send you another one? SF has always done for me no questions asked.

It is nice that it comes with the spare; but in my opinion, you shouldn't be using that until years later. They should send you a whole new tailcap (and not make you send anything back)...

Didnt really think about that, I thought the reason it came with 2 extras was that they were frail and was supposed to break somewhat regularely (obviously not after an hour) but nonetheless. Thats why I figured I could upgrade it with something more robust.
