Nitecore Multitask Hybrid Series

I had my heart set on a Nitecore EC2, but now this new series pops up. There's not much info about this series, and I'm not sure if it's just because it's really new.

The UI is perfect for me. I have asked for this UI for a long time. You twist one direction for the turbo/high mode. Twist the other direction for the rest. It's the perfect twisty UI, but I want it in a small light.

Yeah that is why I might hold off, because I like the idea of a clicky and twist UI.

How exactly is it beneficial to have two bits to twist? Engaging turbo-mode is no less effort than turning the control ring to max, and if you forgot to pre-set your light (or didn't know you'd need to), you're still going to have to twist something to get maximum output. That feature is redundant, nothing more.

Oh geez. Now I see how it works. The thing I thought was the control ring is actually just a sliding cover for the USB charging port. It's only a two-mode flashlight. Lame.

I like it. Not sure how the 1A is 550 lumens? It does say dual-fuel however. Sign me up!

It says it comes with a Li-ion battery. Guessing it can take AA cells in a pinch.

The outputs and runtime are based on the dedicated Li-ion rechargeables batteries and the AA or CR123.
May be completely wrong here but it seems it accepts both types of batteries wouldn't the "primaries" for ANSI/NEMA testing with have to be the AA and CR123?
In any case, it's a nice feature that it can work both as a rechargeable light and also work with standard batteries.

The UI is identical to the MT series though which means disco + high-lumen low outputs!

If it does, it goes right to the top of my wishlist. The MH2C, that is. :)

Well the manual doesn't provide details, besides saying don't do it.

What I don't get is how the MH2C can do 800 lumens with an XML, and the EC2 gets 320 with an XPG. Is it partly due to size/heat, and partly emitter or am I missing something?

On top of that: why can the MT2C only do 360 lumens? (Edit: oh, it's an XP-G.)
