"RC batteries" are lithium-ions, we typically only use those for much higher output in roughly the same size format as normal batteries. When it comes to durability/cost/efficiency/etc, we turn to Nickel Metal Hydride cells, the "rechargeable" batteries you see on the store shelves; not huge output but huge savings over time. The exception is extreme temperature use, where lithium primary/Energizer Lithiums work best.
