Hi Guys,

I need to buy NP-50 Battery for my Fuji f200exr camera. Now the original fuji battery is quite expensive (arnd $30) but there are cheaper alternatives namely Pexell, Maximal Power and Ultralast barring the generic ones...

Normally I would have bought Ultralast (since its uniross)...but its capacity is lowest of the lot...1000mAh, Maximal power is 1100mAh and got rave reviews from people on amazon..while pexell one is available on eBay and has capacity 1400mAh..

Has anybody heard of these 2 brands? or should i go with ultralast only..what do u guys recommend?

Regards,

I'd pay the money to get the Fuji branded battery. I had a near mishap with an off brand battery in a Sony Play Station Portable game console.

I am a little leery of off brand batteries at the moment. The cell in that thread was in a tightly glued containment box that the expansion gasses popped open like it wasn't glued at all. Fortunately the inner bag held in the gasses or there could have been a fire.

Unless it was from a very reputable company. Ultralast primaries were what that Police Officer in Texas had in his Streamlight that went grenade on him a few weeks back if I recall correctly.

A while ago I looked into getting a less-expensive LiIon for my Canon camera - all the 'Canon-compatible' ones that I found were made in Ch1na and, in spite of listing greater capacities than the Canon cells, actually had less usable capacity and poor overall reliability and longevity (from an extensive reading the various online reviews). I am in no way familiar with the other brands you mention, but if any of them are made in Japan/EU/US, they might be an adequate replacement.

My Canon (especially while sitting in my pocket!) is worth WAY more to me than the difference between a $30 battery and a $10 el-cheapo with any chance whatsoever of :poof:ing.

BTW one very good rule of thumb is to not believe any capacity claims for off-brand cells sold on Ebay.
