Hi everyone -

I have finished modding a few Q3's with dual stage switches and
now I'm ready to do it primetime /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I had some problems with the
switches I ordered, but that has been resolved.

I only 95 switches so - after this I don't know if I'll do anymore.

Heres what you get:
- Two stage switch - click high, click off, click low, click off
- 10 ohm resistor on low which drops the brightness to about 2x arc aaa
brightness and runs for about 10 hours. But this will vary
slightly depending on your bin of luxeon
- o-ring inserted so the q3 can stand up fully on it's tail.

What you ship me is the TAILCAP ONLY. Please don't send the whole
light. Theres not point and wastes postage.

Price is $25 each mod plus overhead of $5 for shipping, packaging, labels etc. (up to 5 tailcaps)

I should be able to turn these around within a week. (sorry for those
first few i modded - they took longer because I had to work out the
kinks)

it's just as robust as the original. I'll post some picts of it

OK got my Q3 tailcap back. It works great! Thanks for the superfast turn around Dave.

I notice that occasionally the lo level flickers when turning on. Kinda like the way a flourecent light does when you first turn it on. I guessed this might happen because I use a protected rechargable R123. It does NOT do this with a standard CR123 battery BTW.

Oh, quick question. I was thinking of swapping out the SYOL with a TWOK. Do you think it will affect this flicker issue in any way?

Q3-R low level runtime test using 4sevens dual stage switch (All LUX readings at 1-meter)
3:50pm 95 LUX
4:20pm 85 LUX
4:50pm 75 LUX similar ambient output to ARC AAA-P (21 LUX) which seems to have a wider center hotpsot which adds up in lumens
5:20pm 70 LUX
5:50pm 65 LUX
6:10pm 50 LUX tested on hi to measure 850 LUX still more than Q3 using regular CR123 new lithium battery at 660 LUX
6:15pm darkness on low and hi
Results: Approximately 2.5hrs of steadily decreasing light to 50% in low mode with abrupt darkness ending due to protected lithium rechargable battery.

Cro - can you do a runtime/lux test on 123 primaries?

I could have swapped your star for you /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif but the turn around time
would not have been 4 days :P

5:18PM ------- 980 LUX at 1-meter, (throw 31m) battery approx. 3.7v
15-minute mark 920 LUX (throw 30m)
30-minute mark 870 LUX (throw 29m) very hot to touch until held to allow for heat-to-hand transfer
45-minute mark 640 LUX (throw 25m) Battery died while taking measurement.

My batteries seem to be more powerfull now as I have used them for a few cycles so It's probably a bit higher now. I'm getting over 1100 LUX off the charger now.

no no... primary batts are one time use batteries...

anyway mods are still available.... $25 each plus $5 shipping on
any number:)
