I just got my first NX-05 optic with my McLux. There is a little square lump near the rim of the optic that prevents it from dropping in flush with the McLux head. Can I just file this down to fit? I'm scared I'll scratch the optic and mess up the refraction.

a little scratch won't hurt much...

the "lump" is the tab that is used when making the optics...the tabs really suck.

on a more positive note, fraen's optics will no longer come with tabs, but they are larger... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

or you can use scissors or hammer it away.
Like Roth said, a little scratch would not hurt much. Moreover, i think the one more important is on the side. never put any coating on it or you will lose substantial amount of light.

i have previously used a moddeling knife to carve it away.

but now that i hav a lathe, i can machine thise quite nicely...wouldn't even no there was a tab in the first place /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
