NYC Holiday Get-Together

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

It was nice meeting fellow flashlight folks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif all those lights were amazing. Thank you for showing up (Catapult, Blind Tiger, Alan, Chief Wiggum, City, and Murphquake.)

Anyone willing to host 1.5Mb or so of photos? (like 6-8 photos total.)

Very sorry I missed this - still held out some hopes I'd make it until about 5 p.m. on the day of the event...then the toddler and newborn began an uninterrupted string of demanding attention/help - no way I could leave my wife in the lurch. Sigh.
Sounds like a very nice gathering - hope you all really enjoyed yourselves.
I WILL make one of these get-togethers in 2004!
Dave

Jason, I could host them if you don't find a better option. I could also run 'em through Photoshop to compress them quite a bit. PM me if interested.

Sounds like I missed a lot of fun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I couldn't get away from family and travel all the way out there. Maybe next time. So who has pictures?! What's the 411 on this new light not available to CPF'ers? We need more INFO!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks to (nah i aint listing the whole crew minus me like the rest of you did =-) all!

I had a great time, seriously fiending on an L4 now...

yeah it was a bit of a sausage party but i think if we work on the cute lights then we can improve on that (Chief =-) Speaking of whom next time you and AlanZ are getting dragged over to the park (how much ground did we cover anyway BT?) Seems like i need to get busy with hackin' my lights like the rest of the gang =-)

Looks like everyone made it back to the board ok =-)

FYI I saw a Chief Wiggum clone tonight at the Jackson Hole Diner by LaGuardia... look out dude they're gonna take over your life and steal your flashlights!

Thanks everyone, I can't wait 'til NYCCPFGT'04!

P.S. Catapult LMK if you need a hand getting the pix scanned or anything.

Sinjz, I'll start a post about the drop-in soon). Watch the LED forum.

murphquake, love that L4? Prepare to open up the wallet, play the Luxeon Lottery, and hope for the best. As for the pics, the roll still has exposures remaining. I'll finish it off when I can.

Don't forget to place your votes on the 2003 Lummies.

i have gone through 11 L4's of those 11 i've had 5 that were acceptable, and only 3 that were super white
1 was sold to another cpfer at cost and the other 2 were kept by me =)

you have to compare a L4 to another to determine if you have a real white L4.

The roll is finished, I just need to develop them and digitize the pics. I know I wasn't the only one who took pics though.

Here's some pics...

more flashlight porn

I really didn't take that many pics /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I spent too much time playing with cool lights /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm in every pic and my face is still hidden! Cool, I really am discreet!

Top pic: I'm swapping Opalec Newbeam modules. This is probably one of the later pics (more stuff on the table). Is that Jason's camera there?
Middle pic: Comparing the County Comm 10X21 spy optic to my Bushnell 10X25 monocular. The CC spy optics are decent, but the exit pupil and eye relief is too small. BTW, that's Blind Tiger.
Bottom pic: gotta put down those optics and get back to flashlights. The barrel thing lying horizontal here is one of those battery holders that was available from BST for a while.

In all three pics, you can see my Brinkmann Legend LX and Rebel. Those three nifty filters came with the Rebel. There are the Tigerlights to the left and to the center, poor lighting. You can see some of Chief Wiggum's amazing mods. I like the little one. The blue thing there is Jason's PT Impact. The really long light is CiTy's modded KL3. There's the SC3. It's bigger than I thought. Alanz's and my CC Red Inova 24/7. Two CC red dollar keychain lights. I see an Arc LS. Then there's my soda. What a flashlight mess.

Chief Wiggum, at least wait till I pull out some 40 of my lights before taking those pics!

Still need to develop my pics. Looking forward to see the group photo.

Yes, that is my camera catapult. I am trying to find a good online host. Any recommendations?

Nice pictures Chief /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jason

In the lower right corner of the first photo are my contributions to the table:

SF SC3 battery carrier, Red Innova 24/7, Arc LS2, SF e2e, SF A2, Arc LSL w/AA tail, Arc RGB with light wand (in case I ever encounter a very very small Jedi Knight, and a Pelican case with assorted Arc, Photon, and LedLenser toys.

again, great get together and great guys.
checked the news today, I think there was a mugging at that comfort station where we were. aka restrooms.
A parks officer stopped the mugging.
We should try Prospect Park next time, also more wooded.

I finally got the pictures up. Here they go.

12big.jpg

Top left - Some of my lights, Chief Wiggums, and some of Catapult's lights.

Top right - Arc LS (not sure what L or H, or whatnot), SF E2e, SF A2, and Arc Ls with 2 AA TSP, also a red Inova 24/7

Mid left - Chief Wiggums creations/mods. Oh gosh those lights were nice!

Mid right - My poor attempt to macro my Arc AAA Le, Arc AA (Alanz), and Mag gag (also Alanz.)

Bottom left - A top view of the top right picture with Alanz's Pelican Micro 1010, SC3, and R-G-B Arc AAA

Bottom right - Some more lights (well Catapult started to make lights appear out of thin air, lol!)

12tl-big.jpg

Top left - Tigerlight, right one is mine with Catapult's newer bulb assembly and Catapult's is on the left with older lamp assembly.

Top right - Both shining on that globe base at Corona park.

Bottom left - Newer lamp seems to have a smaller spot due to a bit tighter focus and less side spill. Also my battery seemed to be dying.

Bottom right - older lamp assembly. More side spill.

The distance to base was probably 30-40 feet.

Thats the pictures I stitched together for now (in MS Paint LOL.) I will get some more up later today.

Jason

Cool! You mean the Unisphere =-D too bad it doesn't really show too well. My A2 finally arrived on Saturday! Thanks again all

Now that's my kind of pizza party! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Very impressive. And so many cool smaller size lights! Maybe the commute to the site encouraged people to bring the smaller ones.

You guys put on quite a showing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'd like to cordially invite all of you to NJ PhotonFest 3, to be held when it gets warmer outside, which probably means late February at earliest, or late March at latest. I'll keep you posted on the exact date! Hopefully we can do enough arm twisting to get some of you out here. We don't have a cool globe to shine our lights at, but I can supply an abandoned limestone quarry as well as a field with hundreds and hundreds of yards of light-swallowing nothingness, plus plenty of darkness for some good flashlightin'. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

We haven't even talked about the dark ravine, the big @ss orchard, the rail trails, or the gorge, none of which have been explored by ANYONE from PF1 or PF2. You could be the first! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nor the three known caves in the quarry... though I won't be responsible for your death or dismemberment! Enter at your own risk. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Please keep it in mind, guys! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif
