It happened again.

I had to call an HVAC specialist for a service call. Nice guy, intelligent, informed, knew his stuff. Soon as he gets into the basement to look at the heaters, he pulls out a showerhead spot-spill handheld and stuffs it in his mouth so he can see. Blue ringy beam of course. When he can't take it anymore, he pulls it out of his mouth, covered with drool, and holds it in one hand while he works with the other.

I slip my H501w over my head and turn it on. "Wow," he says, "Nice light. I can see everything!"

"Yeah" I said, "I don't know how you do without one of these. Here, let me turn it up on high for you."

"WOW!"

So I spent the rest of the service call following him around (at his request), putting light on the subject. He wouldn't leave the house till I gave him the website where he could buy one for himself.

This senario has repeated itself dozens of times...almost every time a subcontractor shows up, he has a flashlight stuffed in his mouth, and admits how much he hates it. But these guys are apparently unaware there are better options. When they become aware, they jump on them with a "damn the expense, I gotta have one of those" attitude.

I wonder why quality headlamp manufacturers don't advertise their lights as tools...? Can you imagine how many headlamps SF or Zebra or Spark would sell if they had a listing in the Snap-on Catalog? Or, hell, Sears!
