(Mods feel free to delete http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=215609 because although that was more to see if everyone agreed with the gifting idea, I don't want to be cross-posting)

If you have followed my other thread, a new EDC may be waiting under the tree for me this year as a gift from my parents, however, nothing will be there if I can't pick it out ... This is here because I figured the LED forum is the best pace to get advice on an LED EDC :)

It has to be
*1 X CR123A or RCR123A
*multi-level
*Very bright on max (at least 175 lumens out the front... preferably more)
*Reasonably dim on min(about 6 lumens and lower is good but anything under 10 will do)
*incorporate some type of clicky because I don't want a pure twisty and don't mind extra length (can be clicky plus twisty for modes/etc)
*runtime doesn't matter however, discharging at 4C is dumb
*Option for Tritium in body or GITD tailcap is nice but not a must
*Price not too big of an issue but under $100 def under $150ish would be nice if at all possible as it is an EDC

I have heard many names thrown around (EagleTec, Dereelight, Ra, NiteCore, Jetbeam, etc.) however, I would like your opinions on actual models. These are the ones I have considered, however, feel free to comment on them or suggest alternatives:

*NiteCore EX
*Jetbeam Pro-II with IBS
*Dereelight C2H
*Fenix P1D-CE Q5 (although it's not a clicky and thus not my fav)
*um.... please help me out

Thanks in advance as this will mean a lot to me (EDC for next 2 years most likely)

I'll be looking for a Dereelight C2H with the 5AQ3. I love my rebel 80, but want something warmer, brighter, and smaller. The C2H seems to fit that very well

For a one cell...I have to vote for the Jetbeam Jet II Pro you have listed.....for a bit longer light, the Deerelight cant be beat. I had the Nitecore and sold it pretty fast, I was just not impressed with it, but that is just my opinion and taste. Lots of people like them.

Hmmm... anyone know why the NiteCore is a bit more expensive than some of the other ones you are offering such as Dereelight, fenix, Jetbeam?

And why the NEX is more expensive than the EX10 (I presume the added brightness?)

I have heard only good things about the Dereelight so I will have to look into that one a bit more

The NEX is a bit larger and requires far more machining than those other lights. Hence the added cost. This review has some close up pics detailing that work.

If you are considering the EX10, then don't forget to check out the LiteFlux LF3XT. For the same price, except for shipping, the LiteFlux will give more options, being fully programmable. It can be set up with five different modes in any combination of output, or one mode if you want to keep it simple. While I don't have the EX10 to compare, from much reading it appears the LiteFlux quite simply does everything better. All is not perfect, as there is still the need for a clip and some may think the tint is too cool. I'm happy with the tint, and the pocket clip problem will surely be solved.
