ok i pay 7.8 cents per kilowatt hour i have a ac that uses 620 watts.so say my unit stays on 24 hours per day. i figure my bill will be like 40 per month on ac unit?i say 24 hours a day to be safe. i dont run heat in winter but i do run ac in winter.also if any one can tell me how to figure it out easly it sure will help

I may be wrong but ...
0.078 $/kw-h * 0.620 kw * 24 h/day * 30 day/month
= $34.82/month

(Of course this assumes the AC unit is running at the full 620 watts all the time.)

thank you . i always like to know what it will cost yeah opps summer lol not winter thank you for formula it should be cheaper then that they have a weird rate it changes like less then 350 kw its one rate then next 650 it is another, then over 1000 a another but i want worst case .this has been one nice window unit it does a fine job.it is so hot in southern ga in the day time but at night im sure compreser only comes on for a minute or so

Everybody else beat me to it!

kWh are just kW times h. Your situation is 0.620 kW (620W/1000W in a kW). You just multiply that by the number of hours to get your kWh - and that's what you're billed for. The unit will likely cycle, and so won't be drawing that much constantly.

Factoid just for fun: I can drive my car 1,300 miles on the power to run that AC unit 24/7 for a month.

o ps i doubt it will cycle, the room is around 15x15 with 10 feet ceiling i got a 6000 btu unit.it realy needs id guess 7000 btu but. i couldt find one.and a course one that is to big dont run long enough to remove humidty from room and it is so humiid down here

Here in Clearwater it is getting to the season where it is 92-95°F during the day and cools all the way down to 78-82°F at night (well, by 4:00 in the morning anyway.) 92° now at 4:00 in the afternoon. I will turn off my heat pump next August or September I guess.

Even at that, it is cheaper than heating all winter long:)
