Old batteries recevied from Thomas Distributing

It's fairly typical for Eneloops to be a few months old when you receive them. It seems to be how the supply chain works, from factory to shipment to warehouse to distributor to retailer.

Some people have observed that more recent models of the C9000 had a 1000 watt back light that could completely substitute for normal room lighting. Perhaps they have fixed that now and toned down the light level to a more reasonable brightness.

You're probably right. I was just being super picky about the backlight.

I highly doubt Thomas Distrubuting was at fault for the older batteries, more than likely the Sanyo factory.

I just wanted to see if anyone else had similar experiences.

BTW, I am a very happy camper now :) I have 2 maha's and about 50 eneloops :)

I am guessing Thomas has several wholesalers they buy from to get eneloops and got one batch from one place then reordered to get another batch..... or perhaps you got packaged cells the first time and bare (oem type) cells the next time. It is common for products to come retail packaged and what is called white boxed or non packaged and some wholesalers often both types other wholesalers only one type and some people prefer the retail packs while most are happy with the bare product at a cheaper price.

I received the batteries in retail paper/blister packs both times.
