I and a friend mounted a OLight M30 on a FS2000 (nice .223 rifle). It is mounted in the foregrip with a machined out hole and two rings to hold it in the hole, so it is pretty solidly mounted. The two rings hold the light on each side of a polymer wall in the for grip and the round cut out in the polymer does all the other locating. It is a very solid mount. It will not move it shaken or if the gun is lifted by the light. We put the olight remote switch on it with the extended battery compartment and run it off of 2x18650. The switch works great.

After a few rounds are fired (more than 1 and less than 30) the light will change from high to low. We have not had it change back when we continued to fire. Is there anything we can do to keep the light on high? Why is is changing to low?

Here is the inside the front grip mounting.

I would test the rifle on 4x Primary CR123's
I'm not really sure of this but I don't think 18650 batteries are designed to handle the recoil of even a .223/5.56

If the same thing occurs you have eliminated batteries as an issue. Step two is to fire the weapon without the pressure switch some way to determine if the switch is defective.

good luck

That mount is nicely done! :)

I don't know the light, but my guess is the recoil causes a temporary (very brief) disconnect in the circuit, which fools the UI into thinking it was told to step down to the low setting. You may need stronger battery springs to stop this happening.

Alternatively, it might be feasible to effectively lengthen the batteries using Neodymium disc magnets, so they seat really firmly in the holder.

Both scenarios are possible. The temporary disconnect being the most likely. You may also permanently damage the 18650's protection circuits, this is one of the reasons Surefire designs for primaries. A defective switch is the least likely but anything is possible. Very nicely done mod on a quality rifle. :)
