I just had to post this because now i finally realize how amazing the E2DL is!

I have had the SF light for quite some time and always been impressed by its throw and brightness. So a few days ago i bought an olight M30 mainly because of the 700lm output.

To night its pitch black outside my house ( i live on a farm ) and i brought both lights with me for a "duel".

And the result is :

They both throw (imo) equally long distance.

And the beam is equally intense/bright...and this is what really suprised me alot!

The only difference i could tell was that the M30 got a wider beam.

So how can this be? 120lm vs 700lm and a bigger reflector?

Btw im no LED light expert :)

Sorry no pics!

SureFire TIR optics is an amazing piece of work, and SF underrates their lights. The E2DL is at least 180 out-the-front lumens. That's why these SF lights are able to trounce many other lights claimed to be much brighter. Now just imagine, what the M3TL will be able to do with that HUGE TIR optics and a quad-die LED...

The E2DL has already been measured at over 200 Lumen. SF does the opposite than other manufacturers, massive underrating!

So, we have 200 Lumen (OTF?) against 700 Lumen from the emitter.

Furthermore, Lumen is the total amount of light that the emitter (or the light) puts out. So, many Lumen say nothing about the brightness of the hotspot, in case of the M30 it is huge, the spill is bright, the Lumens are hiding there.

Last, but not least, a multi-die emitter produces a more or less floody beam and at a certain short distance there is even a black hole in the middle. An XR-E emitter is better for throw, as it is a single dice emitter, so the hotspot is more defined. The rest is done by SFs' great optics. Keep in mind that the SF is the ost expensive light of the two. It has been really elaborated and tested, the M30 was made more or less in a hurry. I didn't like mine.

If I lived in US, the E2DL would be in my collection since long while I sold my M30 a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, in Europe we have to pay more for Surefires in EUR than the lights cost in USD in USA... :sigh:

My friend owns the Olight M30 and I have the E2DL. Although the M30 has a bigger beam and more spill, the E2DL is the brighter light pound for pound. Let's not forget the M30 takes 3-4 CR123A batteries, and the E2DL takes only 2! Like I said, lb for lb, the e2dl is the better light imho.

The E2DL, E1B, and LX2 are amazing lights. Surefires TIR optics are just a thing of beauty.

Where the heck is that LX1. lol

And I happen to own all of them!:broke:

Me, too. check out this odd comparison - E2DL versus 6P with Nailbender SST-50 700 lumen drop in and Jetbeam M1X:

Jetbeam M1X - definitely a monster:

The 'little' E2DL - understand, this is PITCH dark (5:00 AM) and that soccer goal is a good 60 yards (or more) away. Even though the photo makes it look like the E2DL is struggling, to the naked eye it was amazing how well it did. The E2DL is one of my favorite lights - the LX2 is my FAVORITE - and the M1X is a MONSTER (size and output.) For a light as small as the E2DL it is amazing!

Check out the spill in the front...

Here's the hardware that was in this comparison:

I share your enthusiasm for the E2DL!! Oh, and I had an M30 - loved it, but sold it!
