I've been having fun with my Ultrafire A1 and C3 flashlights and have not used my Olight T-20 and T-20 Special Edition for a few months. Last night I decided to check the battery levels on the Olights and put them through some paces. To my disappointment neither would do anything but switch from bright to strobe and then SOS, I could not get the brightness to change! I guess I'm getting forgetful in my old age because from using the Surefires I had actually forgetten that to change brightness on the OLights I had to twist the head! I'm embarassed but relieved. I did discover a real problem while trying the Surefire RCR123A's in my Olights. The batteries are longer than the Tenergies I've been using and although the flashlights work I do lose the ability to twist between brightness levels. Any suggestions on how to possible shorten the slighty longer batteries? Upon replacing with the Tenergies the flashlights functioned just fine. Thanks. Frank

Surefire makes RCR123 batteries?

I'm not sure how you would shorten a battery without some complex doings or removing the protection circuit if it has one(not recommended).

Aside from removing the PTC which is a bad idea or shaving off/bending in the positive terminal... which is a REALLY bad idea, I can't think of any way to shorten batteries. I had the same problem with my Fenix P3D a while back... just accepted it and used primaries instead. Good excuse to buy new RCR's :p

The batteries are Ultrafire, my mistake. Can't understand why the Ultrafires are made longer than the Tenergy? Is the protection circuitry at the positve or top of the battery? Could I use a metal punch to depress the bottom? Just some thoughts.
