I just received the Olight T15 Q5 from the Fenix Store

You can also purchase the Olight T15 Q5 from Battery Junction

Shipping took 3 days to Socal.

Fit is excellent.

The Type III Hard Anodize is excellent.

Uses Cree Q5.

Takes 1AA Battery. The T15 Q5 will also run on 14500's. AW's Protected 14500 would not fit. I had an Ultrafire Unprotected 14500 and it fit.

Has 5 levels of output, but the I can't get to other levels with the Ultrafire Unprotected 14500. Twist the bezel to get to the different levels. With regular Alkalines and Nimh I can get all 5 levels.

3 modes, constant, on strobe and SOS. Soft press to get to the other modes.

I also took lux readings of the lights above. These are the lux readings I got. I am using a Meterman LM631 Light Meter measured at 1 meter. I waited 2 minutes before taking the readings. I am using a Ultrafire Unprotected 14500 in the Olight T15 Q5. I used AW's Protected 14500 in the Nitecore Defender Infinity Q5 to take lux readings.

Nice photos, love the outdoor shots:thumbsup:. Now I just need my Nitecore to show up at my doorstep some time soon:(.

nice photos as usual.
do you have UF protected 14500?
might want to try that if the T15 can take it in size.

No protected UF 14500. I think my friend said he might drop one off to me.

Check if Sanyo 2700 will fit (if you have one). It's a little bit wider than Trustfire protected 14500 cell.

i got a question. the olight is suppose to be 120 lumens while the nitecore is suppose to be 190 lumens . It doesn't seem that the nitecore is much brighter than the olight or is it just because of the pictures. Is it much brighter in person?

The Olight T15 Q5 is much brighter in person. It has a more smaller corona. It is because the of the reflector, half OP around the emitter and deeper than the Nitecore.

The Nitcore uses a full OP which makes the beam more flood and smoother. It's reflector is more shallower. The deeper reflectors give more throw.

so do you think the nitecore really produce 190 lumens. Out of all the AA battery flash light. Most i seen are around 120 with nitecore so much higher than the others. I'm planning on getting one but still wondering if the output is true since its so much higher than the others that are out right now.

Hi, great review! I just received my T15 that I bought to replace mt L1t.

I'm very happy with the light. I can't stop playing with it. My only problem is that it is pretty hard to turn on. The switch takes quite some effort to turn on and off. Is your switch difficult to press?

My L1t takes very little effort at all. Thanks for your time!

Paul

I had two Olights and both had stiff switches. I have also seen others mention this. Not unusual, perhaps the norm.

Looks like a nice light albeit the "normal" design. A few questions here, will it be as bright as Nitecore if we use the NiMh? Can I turn it on in strobe? Thanks.

Are you sure your pictures of the Olight T15 Q5 box are correct? My Olight T15 Q5 came from Battery Junction in a much smaller box and it did NOT include the holster. My T20-Q5 did come with the holster. In fact your first two pictures are clearly labelled T20 on the box shots.

Sorry it was a very busy weekend. I did 3 reviews in one day and did not have too much sleep.

The box shown is the T20 Q5. I re-shot the picture because they came out crooked. I grabbed the wrong box.

Will re-shoot with correct pictures inserted.

Has anyone been able to use the Sanyo 2700s or Trust/Ultrafire protected 14500s in their T15?

Thanks

I'm a bit worried that protected 14500 cell doesn't fit because it means I cannot use high capacity Ni-MHs (like Sanyo 2700).

x2x3x2 tested T15 as well and his conclusion about modes on 14500 was different:
"Although not recommended by the manufacturer, the T15 can run on 14500 cells but you will see little, if any, difference in brightness between levels 2 to 5."

Use of a 14500

I could only fit an Unprotected 14500 in the battery tube.
