Hello everybody, i was thinking of building a bike light around cutter.com.au 's
MCPCB 6 up "Metal core printed circuit board for 6 x Cree XR/XRE leds. Board is aluminium, 70mm diameter by 2mm thick"

I will need to get someone to make me a 75mm alu housing on a mill/lathe, then hook up a maxflex with remote switch and a lupine handlebar mount (which will be positioned in the back and off-centre to bottom in order not to extrude a lot from handlebar height):D.
Moreover, i will blend 4 highest lumen cree R2's with two of warmer tint , for a smooth light output overall. The part is here:

What do you think? Will it match the output of a $1200 lupine betty -not as slick though....-

Thanks for your thoughts....:candle:

2 p7 heads will give comparable output, for much cheaper, easier to source optics, and, lets face it, you're going to end up with at least a 9cm head, which is what, nearly 3 times the diameter of an mr11 bulb? If you're going down the custom housing route, a twin p7/mce build is (at least imho) a much better size for bike mounting

I think i will agree with you. I was considering this option myself! Cutter has some mr11 housings that look really nice and i have an osram ostar 1100lm led ans 35mm reflectors lying around, so i will look into the matter. I just wanted some other views too!
