Optics question for Wayne

When I hold a 3/4" acrylic ball against the led of my Arc AA I get a perfectly round spotlight beam like that on the Inova X1 except it is about twice the diameter.My question is if I use smaller acrylic ball (1/2") will it produce a tighter beam. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'm not an optics expert, but, I think a larger ball gives a smaller beam.

I'm not sure to be honest. I've played with some of them for a few minutes. That was a while back.

Maybe someone else here has more optical background.
