Like something similar to the 4Sevens Quark 123x2 only with the ability to also take AA.

For someone like me, who doesn't have a lot of lights, I believe it's imperative all my lights have the ability to take AA (or AAA). I like the 123 performance, but I also want to be able to find batteries should things go sour.

Anyway, I know the ZebraLight SC80 takes both batteries, but I prefer a double battery light. I sure wish 4Sevens would make a combo light in their Quark series (x2). Are there any other options out there? I'd greatly appreciate any help.

What you need;

- Dereelight Javelin
- Dereelight C2H body
- C2H AA extender
- Dereelight 0.9-4.2V low-voltage drop-in (1-mode or 3-mode)

By swapping the parts around, you will be able to run it on 1xCR123A, 1xAA or 2xAA.

2xAA - Stock Javelin - Javelin head on Javelin body
1xCR123A - Javelin "Shorty" - Javelin head on C2H body
1xAA - "Shorty" AA - Javelin head on C2H body with AA extender

Dereelight makes its parts interchangeable, (aka, "Lego") so you can get some pretty interesting results. For example, you can stick the DBS aspheric head with XR-E EZ900 onto a Javelin body and you end up with a 2xAA light that can throw out to 600 meters.

I'm currently rocking the Shorty AA with sawed-off Delrin battery spacer that allows me to use CR123A even with the extender attached. When the SHTF and run out of CR123A, I can simply take out the spacer and stick a 1.5V AA in it and it will light up. You can read about it here.

enomosiki,

Thanks for the info. Will check it out.

Any other options?

Oh, I forgot, check out the Quark Pro and Tactical series by 4Sevens. Some Quarks will let you run it on either CR123A, 1xAA or 2xAA, depending on the required input voltage of the head unit.

For example;

- Quark AA² (0.9 to 4.2V)
- Quark 123 body
- Quark AA body

Fitting the AA² head onto the 123 body will let you run it on 1xCR123A. You can place the head back to the AA² body to run it on 2xAA, or AA body for 1xAA.

The SC80 looks really neat to me especially since it takes either without needing to remove and stow a spacer - the spacer is used in the light in both configurations. No swapping nothing.

But for me, I'll stick with AA or 2xAA and if I want the performance of lithium I'll use the Energizer L91's. So even with an dedicated AA you still can have the best of both worlds, sort of. Well thats my take on it anyhow,

Get the AA and Aa2 bodies for your Quark and buy the 14505 batteries, 3volt lithium primaries :thumbsup:
I saw them advertised in the Dealers corner of CPF marketplace, forget who but I bought a dozen and they truly do work great
