I was wondering if it is necessary to go through the warm-up procedure if the 150 mw module has already been in a +80°F for sometime.Just how critical is this procedure?
Also after my warranty period is up,I would like to replace the power adj. screw on the end cap with a longer one.The need to have a screwdriver with you all the time is sort of awkward just to power-up,and then warm-up the unit. Can this "power" screw be easily removed by holding the gizmo inside the end cap so the screw can be replaced?
I realize this probably a saftey feature but extreme care is no problem for me and the module is stored locked-up anyhow.
I guess Jack would the the one to have the answers.

Thanks,Jerry

Hi Jerry,
If the laser is warm like that, it shouldn't be an issue. it's just that when they are cold, that much current rushing into the cold diode can stress it pretty hard. I'm not sure about modifying the switch, I would wait until the warranty is up before doing anything that could void the warranty. If you're mechanically inclined, you could probably do something like that though.
