Oxidation on Surefire bulbs

Some of my old 6P bulbs are showing oxidation on the outside (not the reflector) and the contact spring. Has any else seen this? And after all these years, is there something better than the mainstay 6P bulb?

You could try a Lumens Factory SR-9. Or look for a 7.4v bulb so you can use rechargeable batteries. I've seen corrosion, but not very often. It's easy to brush off and then coat with silicone grease (or other appropriate lubricant). The SR-9 is brighter.

Great, I think I can find Lumen Factory bulbs at Lighthound. But...7.4V? I'd think I'm going to get rechargeble cell in a 6P body.

I've bought 7.4v bulbs on ebay. They work well with RCR123 batteries. They are as bright or brighter than their Surefire counterparts.

You could always try ProGold on the contact springs to fix the old P60s.

Just stick an LED drop-in in that sucker! You'll save a lot of batteries and it will be considerably brighter... unless you simply must have an incan light...

If there is a slight amount of oxidation on the outside of a P60 I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it is on the reflector. Aluminum will oxidize after awhile and can be removed with a variety of products, but honestly I don't see it too often even on older lamp assemblies. And as far as incans, if you like them, please keep using them. I do!
