My father purchased a p-61 lamp assembly for my G2 Nitrolon. I love it. There is not much of a noticable difference between throw... but its nice!

Hi Tom,

The P61 has a larger beam not longer throw. It's so you can see more, more quickly compared to the standard lamp assembly.

I hope you continue to enjoy feeding it!

Yeah, the throw seems about the same, but way brighter and much whiter.

Since I was lucky enough to get a new G2 for $25, I sprung another $25 for a P61. Holy cow does that thing put out a large quantity of light! I measured about 2.2 amps of drain - double the P60.

The P61 in my G2 makes it one of my brightest lights. At only 20 min. of R/T I hope to find a bunch of 123's under the tree. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/santa.gif

Yes I did the easy Legend LX Mod with a p61, Yes it is brighter with a wider beam of light...however with only 20 minutes of runtime from 2 123's it is borderline impractical IMHO. especially if you had to pay retail on those batteries /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif 50 cents a minute ! Whooosh!

I may put the light up for sale here sometime, it's been sitting on my shelf for quite awhile as I wait for that special moment when I really need to use that amount of light =)

If you continue to use the P61 in your G2, do yourself a favor and order a 6P bezel with the Pyrex in it, or the M2 bezel which adds shock protection as well. If you continue to use the P61 in the G2 with its stock Lexan bezel, the Lexan will eventually distort and melt. I found that out the hard way with my G2 and P61 HOLA. Personally, I'd get the M2 bezel. The shock isolation is a plus, it looks better, and is not much more money than the 6P bezel. Have fun!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks to those who've cautioned us to get a glass lens. I'm sure the P61 should be used in a metal flashlight for continuous use, but I like living on the edge. If my lexan distorts, I'll have another excuse... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The standard 6P does not have a Shock Isolated Bezel.

If you have an old 6P it can still accept more recent accessories.

So for your "Classic" 6P you can get a Z41 LockOut TailCap, a Z59 Clickie TailCap, a Z32 Shock Isolated Bezel etc etc etc
