Hi all, new here and what a great site. I've been searching but can't find my answers. Flashlights, This is all I need, something else for me to be consumed by . I'm already a confessed backpack Ho and just bought a Falcon II from Maxpedition, now I can't stay off their website.

As others have stated, I'm ready for my first 'real' light. I've narrowed it down to these two for my first light. I realize the P20C2 will be brighter due to the 300 high setting but that doesn't make it better. A couple questions regarding that light. Can the pocket clip be removed or will there be a channel left if done so? Also, on the tactical model, can the 'syringe grip' be removed like the TK10 and is that the only feature that differentiates it from the Personal model? I almost went for the Fenix but I do think the ultra low on the Eagletac could be quite useful. Help me spend a little birthday money. Thanks all.

I've pondered both of those lights too.

Never having handled either, I decided on the P20C2. I like this one because it is smaller, brighter, and has three brightness modes. But mainly because it is offered with a Neutral White emitter. After using both Neutral, Warm, and Cool White LED's, I will NEVER go back to a Cool White tint. The Neutral and Warm tints are so much nicer to use in the outdoors.

The P20C2 is just being updated at the moment, Pre-order is available right now.
This update gives it the new Cree XP-G R5 (Cool White), and the ability to disable the strobe mode which is nice. As well as the ability to upgrade it in the future with EagleTac's new drop-ins, so you could have the XP-G R5, and the Neutral White with the same light, as well as newer ones as soon as they come out. Mike from PTS said the drop-ins will be reasonably priced too.

To be honest, I don't think you will be disappointed with either light.

The clip on the EagleTac can be removed, and by looking at the picture, I don't think there will be much of a channel, at least not too noticeable...Maybe others that have the light can verify this, as I do not yet have it..Soon though!!

I have a TK-10. The clip is indeed removable, as is the syringe grip widget. There is no channel for the clip, just a flat spot where it rests. There is a corresponding flat spot on the other side that has the screenprinted name, so it looks balanced with or without.

Beam color is a lovely neutral white, and very clean, no rings.

I also own an Eagletac, a T100C Mark II. They are similar in size. Of the two, I think the Fenix has the edge in quality. Not greatly, as both are very good. But if I had to pick one that was the most confidence inspiring, it would be the Fenix.

One big advantage the Fenix has is I know where you can get one in very good shape, used, for $40 + 5 shipping. ;) It comes with extra tailcap boots, black and orange, extra o-rings, the clip, the tac ring, an allen wrench. Everything except the copper ring, which looked horrible on the thing and I threw it out in disgust. Finish is 99%, minor nicks only, mostly on the syringe ring. I'll throw in two fresh CR123 if you're interested.

I'm selling my CR123 lights, trying to standardize on 18650 batteries.

I know the syringe grip on the Fenix is removable but what about the Eagletac?

The new revised version only comes in the cool white but Wingnut said he didn't like the cool white. Do their drop ins offer different tones?

Also, the new light says 380 lumens and 300 lumens. Is the 380 like flywheel horsepower compared to rear wheel horsepower? Sorry, I'm still learning all of this. Thanks.

The 380 Lumens is Emitter Lumens, where as the 300 lumens is out the front lumens, meaning thats what comes out the front of the light. The drop-ins I would imagine would be available with the Neutral White emitter, which of course would be less bright than the XP-G R5. I'm going to guess and say the NW is still going to be the Cree Q4-5A.

Here is a comparison between two Fenix lights. One being NW the other a Cool White. the Neutral white is a Cree Q2, and the Cool White being a Cree Q5. Not much difference in brightness, considering that the Q2 is in a TK20 which is ran off of two AA's, compared to the TK11 which is either 2xCr123a or 1x18650.

The Q4-5A is obviously two bins higher than the Q2, and being driven pretty hard in the EagleTac, so it should be somewhat brighter than the TK20.

Having the option of multiple brightness and/or tint, drop-ins may very well be a huge factor in which light one should buy. I also imagine that the build quality is roughly the same between both brands.
