My EDC was a little Fenix P3 D which sadly got pinched or lost in the field whilst hunting......

So looking for a light of similar dims that will blow it away.

This needs to have floid with even illumination but alo not be too slouchy on the range.

It needs variable outputs and max lumens capability.

One thing I prefer is rechargeables and the old light was primary.

I dont particularly like RCR123's but as they are small and easy carry I will consider. I prefer 18650's but this makes it longer. This us not a deal breaker tho.

It does not have to be fenix either.

I still have my P3D Q5, but my Eagletac D25LC2 XP-G2 blows it away in every respect. Lux, lumens, beam profile and spill.
 
I've just gotten into 18650's myself and I would recommend the olight S20 baton as a better "entry level" 18650 light over the D25LC2, I don't own the eagletac but I do own a 2013 D25C and I do not like it, 8 blinky modes (non hidden) is way overkill. If it was hidden it'd be cool, but they're in regular L->M->H rotation. That plus turbo isn't accessible from the button (twist the head tight).

BLUE LED I'm not arguing with you, just pointing out, for me the eagletac is to much of a pain to use for EDC (I had it on my "to buy" list of 18650 powered lights till I actually started carrying my D25C and realized I didn't like it.

The zebralight SC600 mk2 will blow most other 18650 lights away, (if you like the ZL user interface anyway) so maybe look into that, it's quite expensive tho. Personally I'm waiting for the ZL SC62 to come out, based on the SC60 and the specs of the SC52 when it comes out the SC62 will be my dream EDC light.

Maybe there's another 2xCR123/18650 fenix that would serve you well (the PD32UE?) but I've just ordered my first ever fenix and I'm not UTD on model numbers and specs and such (orders a E21 as a gift and decided to order a 2nd as a general use/ loaner ligt cause of the simple 2 mode UI and the GREAT price [<$28]) I know lots of people who have been "converted" to flashaholics after being loaned a fenix light, so I imagine they've got something right.
 
The UI of the D25LC2 is similar to the P3D. Head tight = turbo mode and another half into strobe. Head loosen = low, medium, high. There is no need to access the hidden modes. Plus it is different from the D25C and is a similar size to the PD3.
 
On the D25LC2 how are the "hidden modes" accessed? On the D25C there not really "hidden" at all. With memory mode on they come after the 2nd L>M>H sequence, dosnt matter if you do l>m>h>l>m>h all at once or you do l>m>h>l>m and the off, when it comes back on in M it'll be that medium (2 away from flashing) instead of resetting the "hidden mode" entry count. THATS why I don't like them.

The D25C is annoying with the memory on. I turned mine off and it is a little better.

The D25LC2 has no memory. When the head is loosened you need to cycle through low, medium, high. Low, medium, high quickly and half click again to the hidden modes.
 
If you can still find one around, you could get a Fenix PD31 - same UI as the P3D but takes 18650 cells.
Saw a few still on sale on Amazon not long ago.
