Hello everyone. I am looking for a P60 drop-in for my UF 504B host. My goal here is long runtime on low. This light will be for close up use, use for when the power goes out, candle for bathtub use and bubble baths for my wife, etc. I am thinking of a moonlight mode or at least a dim low mode. My XM-L drop-in is like 80 lumin on low and that is too bright.

Lowest output P60 I have, is Solarforce with R2 led.

I know they also have a warm tinted P4 emitter P60. It is 4V -> 18V.
I could imagine if you run one on only 1 Li-Ion (4,2V), it could be quite dim. I have no idea, what driver it has or how levels are space...:shrug:

Hello,

if You know how to use a soldering iron, or a friend of You does, You can purchase an AMC7135 based driver and remove all 7135s except one. If You put this in the Drop-In of Your choice you will have a rather long runtime and low output.
I modified the Solarforce XR-E P4 Drop-In with a modified Shiningbeam 2.8-6V driver. Not it has something about 60 Limens on high and 3 Lumens on low.

This is not an inexpensive way to do it, but, it will give you what you want: get the Dereelight XM-L or SST-50 2.1A pill and a P60 reflector (you cannot buy this as a complete drop-in as the 6 Watts you get from the 2.1A is more than you should try to run in a 6P sized light). The low on this pill is about 1 or 2 lumens. The high, OTOH, is about 550 with the XM-L.

Thanks for the help. I was wondering if this was even possible with a P60 light. I am starting to think that it might be easier to do with a single AA light. :)

I think custom modding a drop in would be your best bet... unless you don't need a high mode, then just go with a Malkoff M61LL...

that is a $75 drop-in. I have an $8 Ultrafire 504B host. LOL :) I was thinking of $15 LOL

You can add an additional resistor to the + lead from the driver to the LED making it as low as you like. In fact if you use a cheap multi-mode driver you can have several low modes.
not a good idea.
Most drivers will try to push the specified amount of current through the circuit (current source). With R=U/I and a constant current a biiger resistance will only lead to a bigger voltage.
So P=I*U will be bigger and you would have decreased runtime.

However, with DirectDrive, no matter if it has PWM or not(ie multi modes), a resistor will work.

You could try SKU 55026 from DX:

5 modes, hi-mid-low-strobe-SOS, 0.03A on low, $15.20 shipped.

At my eyeballing, low is about the same as M1 on SC600 wich is around 65 lumens.
