P60 DROP-IN WITH MAXIMUM THROW

I would like to get a P60 drop-in with maximum throw for my light. I prefer the 3 modes but a single mode would be OK. I have gotten recomendations from on line stores and have had so-so results. Can anyone recomend a resonabley priced drop-in?

Talk to Nailbender about an XR-E 1.4A drop in.

An overdriven XR-E at 1.5A or higher sitting behind an Ahorton P60 aspheric lens would net around 30 k lux, a de-domed XR-E possibly even more. That would be the best throwing P60 drop in. The Ahorton P60 asheric spacer kit accepts a Nailbender pill so you can talk to him about getting just a pill.

I had the same question as yours just a week ago or so and I concluded with the above option as "the best" option. But another question came up. Do I really want to spend $300 one such a specialized light, was it worth it?

Yes berry, but Saalbuster's DEFT EDCs, even should you send in a P60 host for custom fitting, isn't a P60 drop in per se, since he sands down the threads and the mod isn't reversible. So the option i was talking above (overdriven XP-C or XR-E pill behind Ahorton lens) is the best P60 drop in for throw.

Dereelight does NOT make a 1*18650 or 2*CR123A pill so you have to decide which battery configuration you will be using first.

For 2*CR123A
- 1SM 1 brightness level 2xCR123A/RCR123A.
- 3SM 3 brightness levels 2xCR123A/RCR123A.

For 1*18650 (you need a bored out P60 body)
- 1S 1 brightness level, single 18650 only..
- 3SD 3 brightness levels, single 18650 only..

The Dereelight 3SD EZ900 R2 with smooth reflector P60 module. The smaller die makes it throw further than the standard EZ1000 die used in most XR-E R2 LED's. It's worth a look, I have this module in one of my Surefire 6P's by Oveready.

It's a cheaper alternative to my Deft EDC LR.

Where exactly does the OP absolutely refuse a new P60 head?
'Drop in' can mean I want to use my Surefire head. Or NOT, I will accept a new head.
If the OP does not want a new head he can simply ignore the Dereelight and Deft recommendations. It is his decision not yours.

BTW I do not think de-doming works with a lens. Reflector yes. De-doming sends more light sideways into a reflector. With a lens we need more light forward into the lens.

The aspheric DBS head will not fit onto a Surefire C2.
