p61 legend xl upgrade problems

Twice now I have had my light, not light and had to reinstall the cells. Once in use I notice it flickers. Do I need to do something different than install the lamp in the head after removing the original bulb holder or am I suppose to put the cells in backwards with the p61 lamp?

I found the problem, if anyone cares.... Turned out the head was not screwed down tightly. It has a soft feeling as if you may crush something if you screw it down firmly, so I just leave it the way it is and from time to time it will not light when I go to click it. I went to use it today and found when I was handling it the head was on finger tight. I wrenched it down and it came on. WOOHOO!!!
