"Parkerized" Maglite finish?

They just listened when I asked for that almost a year ago :grin2:

I'd be thrilled with a 4D HA-III to put my TerraLux TLE-300M inside. My 6D is a bit too big. (Is a side Question allowed? Will the TLE-300M function satishfactory on just 4 NiMH cells and be able to empty them completely?)
 
I put 4-123A in a 2D Mag, and works real good, used pvc pipe for batt holder took out the factory spring, buffed the inside anadize off tail cap and replaced with a brass spring, send me email and i'll send you pics if interested [email protected] , Mac

Thanks for suggestion. I'd however like to keep it NiMH for price and convenience. If I can get a HA-III 2D I could also make my own 8AA battery holder. For some reason I have no problem putting in 4 AA in all my D size. And neither are the old models... People always state they need to be bored? Or is that just to be able to use a more user friendly battery holder? Making one that gets the job done should be quite doable with some pcb, some springs and some other common objects. Yes, that would require a little carefulness since cells need to sit right upon insertion.

FINALLY some news to report:

I have taken some photos, maybe you guys can figure it out.

The Maglite cost me $50. I bought it from Big W, located in Penrith Westfield, Penrith, NSW, Australia.

The package contains:

1 X Maglite 3D Cell ("parkerized" finish)
1 X Maglite Mini AA Cell ("parkerized" finish)
2 X Maglite D Cell mounting brackets
3 X Duracell D Cell batteries
2 X Duracell AA Cell batteries
1 X Maglite Manual and warranty.

The back of the package:

The Maglite Cardboard insert is dated MAGLITE 2006.

The Maglite Manual/Warranty is dated MAGLITE 2008.

The number on the side of the manual reads: 421-000-783 7/08 D/AA AST

The number on the bar-code: MODEL # : GX17716
Around the bar-code: 102-000-119 and 0 38739 02119 5

The number on the cardboard insert, rear face, right side in the middle: 413-000-469 11/06

I'm guessing the 7/08 refers to packaged on the 7th month of 2008, (as the manual is dated 2008), whilst the insert is dated 11th month of 06 and dated 2006.

Perhaps you guys can find out why these Maglites are so special and "parkerized", maybe we can get more for the CPF? They are LOVELY in texture.

If not, might put it up for sale =)
 
Wow, I can't find any info on that one. You've got pictures of the model number and everything, but I didn't see anything on Google. I even ran the UPC at upcdatabase.com, and get "Item Not Found".

I wonder if it'd be possible to inquire about it from Maglite directly?
 
That's just normal anodizing, you can spec it that way or more than likely they didn't dip it in acid long to make the surface nice and shiny .

Thank you for your interest in Maglite products. The 3D you purchased with a soft finish to it (matte like) was a special promotion run that was made. Unfortunately, that is currently no longer available...but may be sometime in the near future

So my friends, looks like I have a special promotion Maglite here =D and unfortunately we won't see more for now.

However, I also encouraged Maglite heavily to re-introduce this finish.
 
Auction it off and put 75%+ proceeds to CPF. :D

Some mag enthusiast just HAS to have this and it could benefit CPF. :)
