I am looking into getting a Peak Matterhorn or a Kilamanjaro. Does anybody own these and can you give me an idea of the kind of quality I can expect from them? Thanks in advance!

Mike

The Peak lights themselves are fine. It's Peak, the company, that concerns me. They're not on-the-ball all the time. The don't take advantage of the presense on CPF like they did a few years ago. In addition, I've recently got that feeling they have a real low-keyed profile, not giving two sh**s if they sell anything or not.

Peak lights are fantastic. The quality is second to none in my opinion. I really enjoy the ones I have and in fact, there are 3 more on their way to me right now. As mentioned, they really don't spend much time here on the forums anymore, their email communication reportedly leaves much to be desired, and their website is terrible. But the lights themselves are excellent.

I have several Peak AAA lights. I always have a brass 3 LED one in my pocket. I also have many Arc lights. The build of the Peak is as good or better than the Arc. It has been quite some time since I purchased a light from Peak so I can't comment on the current state of there customer service.

The Matterhorn is a real nice light, a clone of the Arc AAA but available in more colors and configurations. The lugged HA body is quite similar to the Arc. The Kilimanjaro is a little less satisfying since it is larger than it needs to be, but it is quite well made. I agree with those who indicate that Peak's retail operation and web presence are sort of afterthoughts. I've always heard that the best way to communicate with them is call them on the phone. It's just difficult for me to find the time to use such an old-fashioned device in the computer era (i.e. to call in business hours I'd have to call from work).

I have a lot of the Peak lights. I have a stainless 3LED HP Matterhorn in my pocket right now - it is stainless and is excellent quality.
THey are a bargain given the level of quality I have seen.
They are highly recommended.

Incidentally, my HP stainless model puts out more spill than another ultrapower model I have. This makes it more useful to me, even though the lux readings on the spot are not as high.

I have more Peaks than any other brand.

I'm also a huge fan of Peak lights, esp. the brass ones. Handle one for a few minutes and you'll see and feel the quality.

I also wish Peak were more involved with CPF these days, but my own C/S experience with them has been very good, esp. by phone.

Peaks are great. I have 2 of the single AA ones by the bed, one red and one white. Great for low light and not disturbing anyone. The build quality is great. I've been using them for 2 years now and they have only gotten better.

I recently had to deal with customer service to cancel an expensive order I had made. It was easy to talk to the lady on the phone and I had no problems. A stand up company with great customer service. I would call if I ever had a problem instead of email though, kind of like SF.
