Ordered a Ranier last night and should be getting it tomorrow. This is my first Peak light and I am really looking forward to it.

What should I expect from this fine looking light regarding the output and the regulation?

How does this light compare to the Carribean... I might just get them both.

My Ti Caribbean should come tomorrow too.

Ordered It yesterday night, But still havent gotten a confirmation.

Nice choice.

These are single level lights as far as I know.

Skalo,

Have you owned any Peaks before? I just got the AA Pacific in titanium too.

Nope, This would be my First ever Peak Light.
I was actually debating which one to get. The Pacific or the caribbean, I mad my choice and wish I can afford both.

They're still pretty cheap for being Titanium.
Have you ever had a Caribbean before?

No but I think that I might be getting one if you like yours. Keep me posted. The prices are great especially considering that I have heard a lot of good reviews about the machining and quality of Peaks.

I have a brass Rainier and the build quality is excellent.

Its been updated with a SSC-P4-USW0I and its been measured at 132 lumens
(with RCR123)

As far as I know its direct drive - it can also be used with std. CR123 for
far less lumens but much longer runtime.

I do feel thought that the Ti lights should have glass lenses rather
than the polycarbonate ones I assume they still have.

I'm almost sure I'd buy one if this was the case.

I have a very nice CPF special Ranier that I was thinking about upgrading to a SSC P4, but....I don't EDC it, I don't use it much. Pretty much a shelf queen, so why destroy its original state? If I ever sell it and someone wants to upgrade it, they can be my guest. But, I feel that I shouldn't change it yet. Now if it was a regular Ranier, I would :)

(The point is, I want to upgrade mine :) 130ish lumens is temping)

Ugh! I asked for overnight shipping on 4/18 and I thought the light would be in the mail yesterday but when I checked the website, it said that the order was on hold...

Is the Ranier direct drive with CR123 or just with the RCR123? Is it safe to run it on RCR123?

If I have a Ranier, what is the reason to have a Carribean. I want someone to come up with a good answer so that I can get one:grin2:

The Rainier was designed to run on RCR123 [3.7v]. Mine gives VERY good output, with a beam that has good throw for a single 123 light. This much throw isn't as useful indoors, but great for outdoors. The tint is great too, warm - it appears to be midway between normal LED and incan. Runtime is about 40 min. before my battery shuts off [I'm running protected RCRs]. It gets warm - almost hot. I would love to see the new Seoul based Rainier. They may not get as hot and yet be brighter, I'm not sure how hard they are driving the new ones.
Beautiful build quality.

The output with regular 3.0v 123s is sooo much lower, I can't take it.

The Carribean has a longer runtime, less output, and a more general purpose beam - a more balanced mix of flood and throw.

The Caribbean head is much smaller than the Rainier , making it more pocketable. But the Rainier is much brighter on 3.7's so I guess its a size vs power choice.

Thank you for the responses. I was hoping that I could run the Ranier off of the RCR123's. For normal use, I prefer the higher output with the rechargeable batteries but for extended use outdoors, I value runtime more and it sounds like both are options with the Ranier.

I think the pacific titanium looks really nice, but it is a bit much for me at $150. Also, the brass and HA versions have a wider head. :ohgeez:
But the titanium ones are on sale until the end of the month (and available with the P4 led).

Alteran -

You may be confused by the pictures on the web site. They show the Titanium Pacific in a AA body because that's the only body available in Titanium. The HA-III and brass pictures on the web site are the AAA body. However, the HA-III & Brass Pacific's come in various bodies, and the AA HA-III body should be the same size as the Titanium AA body.

The $120 was just the sales price for the titanium Baltic and Pacific. Confusing since this thread is titled Rainier, but the prior price discussion was about the Pacific.
