Pedestal fan

Have worn out a pedestal fan of mine. Would HIGHLY prefer to replace with a more powerful one, which means I am looking for one with deeper blades with more pitch. My google kung-fu comes up empty though.

Approx 30" dia, 5' tall.

I know dayton made some, but can't find them on a website.

This is NOT the home depot output level... this type is easily 2-3x as powerful, using 1/3-1/2 hp motors.

Those are the same as home depot/etc. Ones I am looking for have a cage that's 2-3x thicker than normal to hold the deep, high-pitched blades.

Not having any luck finding that either. I'm assuming you want high-pitched blades so you get the same airflow with less noise?

No. I want more airflow with more noise. This is a big fan designed for warehouse/workshop/etc. Need airflow. And using 2 in tandem now... one would provide more air and take us less space.

When I worked for the gubment the mechanics in one garage had like 4 Daytons in the 4 corners of the 150 x 150 foot garage but one mechanic had a squirrel cage fan in his area. It worked well and was nearly silent compared to the Dayton fans.

i kind of recal in my teens working for a hvac comapny who did work for kmart. im pretty sure the sqirel cage in on kmart was like 10 feet hight . but its a foggy memory

Don't see what I'm looking for.

I've also got one of these...

The fan I'm looking for easily surpasses the airflow of the above... I think it's due to blade width & pitch combined with the wire cage not obstructing the blade tips... where most airflow happens.

A client has one... it's quite old with a dayton motor on it. Need to see if they'll sell it to me or trade for (2) 30" pedestal units.

Reminds me of a chicken house fan if you've ever seen one of those.

Might have a repair for the worn out pedestal fan.

Tore the motor down. Cleaned/greased bearings. Sprayed windings with some insulating spray. Cleaned 3 speed switch. And have a new capacitor on order... old one was bulged on the backside where you couldn't see it.

Still on the hunt for an upgraded model though.

Can't see side view on 90% of online pics. Blade design looks like the same blades on all pedestal units I see. Will see if I can get a pic of old dayton fan tomorrow... maybe a model number.

@turbodog didn't you rebuild electric motors and generators in a previous life?

It sounds like your are almost done rebuilding the fan you have, just waiting for a 1.21 gigawatt flux capacitor. Then that fan should serve you well in to the future.
