Hi !

I'm looking for the perfect LED flashlight gift for my girlfriend... and in the end I will buy two of them :) That's cute isn't it ?

- I don't care about the price.
- Solid construction
- Reliable
- Not too big (EDC)
- Cree
- BRIGHT
- Acceptable thrower
- AA or (R)CR123A

The new SF L1 looks like a good choice but there is some questions ? Can I use rechargeable with it ? What about is overall construction ?
Same for the E2L.

I'm also looking to Cree XLamp XR-E LED, JetBeam and Lumapower.

Feel free to leave suggestions !

Thanks!

Mat

I just ordered a Fenix P1 CE Cree from Lighthound for $39.95. Of course I ordered one for myself. My neighbor had an older model and I was impressed with its small size and output.

Be careful. She may not appreciate an expensive light as much as you do. It could hurt more than it helps.

Flying Turtle makes a good point.

If there's any chance she'll react like you got her a frying pan or vaccuum cleaner, I would get her one of the Fenix clones from DealExtreme and spend the rest of the money on something "girly", like a gift card to Sephora, or a nice dinner out with a walk along the waterfront. (if you have a waterfront, etc.)

I was lucky, my wife just laughed, and fortunately I got her a lot of other stuff at the same time.:poof:

Oh, been here. The lady has a phauxton on her keyring, and that's all she's realisitically going to use, everything else gets forgot in her car or thrown in a corner/drawer for eternity. I strongly second AJ's suggestio of a DX light that won't cost much, and won't break your heart when it gets lost/destroyed/completely unused and ignored.

Make sure it's a light with reverse polarity protection! :)

that advice pretty much kills the entire fenix series:ohgeez:

thats the only thing about fenix lights I don't like...but if you can trust her enough to put the battery in correctly I'd go with the P1-CE, straightforward on/off:D

Orb NS RAW with pink tritium inserts or the SF Titan - if she likes flashlights if you can be sure she'll appreciate a torch.

EDIT: Sorry read your post properly, scrub the NS RAW and it doesn't meet the battery spec

Thank you all for the suggestions.
The Titan is out of the question... ;)

It must be able to use rechargeable.

What about the Novatac EDC-120T ? SF L1 E2L (Cree) ?
Beside Fenix what would be a good choice for a AA flashlight ?

In the end... I don't want to buy something cheap. I want the gift to be original. I think it's a good idea because she know that I'm a flashaolic and I want to share my passion for flashlights.

I don't know about "cute" but it seems you are thinking more about you. She knows you are a flashaholic. If you want the gift to be original, get to know her and find out what her passions are. A flashlight from a flashaholic isn't exactly original.

Get a light that is silver/gray finish. My lady picked that over all the black lights she saw.

Yes, they do care alot about the look of the light, even if it isnt the brightest. And you may appreciate a surefire, she may just say blah and choose a cheap shiny china light.

If you would be willing to consider AAA the LOD-CE in natural finish would probably be appealing because of its' small size. Another option might be a P1-CE it is also available in natural finish and still small enough for any purse she might carry.Don't be disappointed if she doesn't get as excited about the gift as you are my wife likes to tell me she could get a pair of shoes for what I pay for a light.

[SIZE=-1]JETBeam MKIIx OR Fenix L1D-CE

I think either of those will fit pretty much all of your criteria, and are reasonably priced to boot. I DO agree with getting the natural finish rather than black, if possible.

Of course, for YOU..... I'd go with the Novatac 120P, but I think that would be overkill for a girlfriend, unless she is "one of us". So, if you must buy two of the same light..... I think either the Fexix or Jetbeam will give you both nice, reliable, bright, small, rechargeable lights.

If you are serious about not caring about the price, I think you have to consider the Spy 005. It has none of that faux-tactical crap about it, it's functionally superb, has timeless styling, and it feels almost like a top quality pocket watch in your hand. It's like something that a movie star would use, and it will make her feel special.

I gave a Fenix L2D-CE to my wife and she's extremely happy with it. I also gave my best buddy a Dexlight X1 and he was happy with the output with just regular batteries. Once I gave him the 14500 to along with it he was very impressed by it. Now he keeps bugging me about the charger. I think I might of turned him into a flashaholic. I'm pondering wether to direct him to this site or not.
