I'm gathering all my flashlights together and logging what each are. I just pulled out my Petzl headlamp, and I can't find any ID on it whatsoever. It's 3AA powered, is turned on and focused via the bezel (a Petzl bezel). Has a round incen bulb. The strap is green with purple highlights.
Ideas on the model or where on the light I'd find that information?

Is the AA battery pack on the back of the headstrap? Sounds a lot like the Petzl Zoom or the Zoom Zora. It's a great 4 AA incan headlamp. I have a version of the same headlamp that uses either 3 C or 3 AA called the Mega. 3 C's is a lot of weight to be hangin by a headstrap... :S and with the AA's in it, you're still left with a enormous battery compartment...so it rarly sees any action. Cheers!

Petzl Zoom. It is designed to take a rectangular specialty battery, but you apearantly have the 3 aa converter. You can find the specialty battery at any climbing shop or REI.

It is the benchmark in the headlamp field since it has been popular for so long.

Thanks. Yep, other than a different color strap, it's a Zoom w/ adapter. I have the incan bulb, I wonder how much brighter the halogen bulb is and its effect on runtime.

Seems like I made a good buy.

thanks again,

I run the Zoom with a halogen bulb on three AA Lithiums and get about 3-4 hours of run time as I recall. Using the 3 AAs makes the headlamp quite stable on the head and not at all uncomfortable.
