Photon on \'roids?

My affinity for the stainless metal personified in this. (Select Miscellaneous and scroll half way down page.)

That looks like a nice website, (I'm also a fan of brass items)

-I wonder if that light takes the larger 2032 Li cells??

Re: Photon on \'roids?

Nope, with all that added size, it still only uses 2016 batteries.

"The flashlight uses common CR2016 or equivalent batteries."

Too bad too. It is SIGNIFICANTLY larger and heavier, so they should compensate a bit by using better batteries that would last much longer.

Re: Photon on \'roids?

I started to order one but paused, I saw its size. I also looked carefully at the photo and thought I noticed someting. There is what appears to be the shaft of a photon coverts bezel coming out one end and the switch on the bottom could be a hole to access a photon switch. The screw could be passing through the lanyard hole. Don't know if any of this is true but I started to wonder if it was a photon case.

Re: Photon on \'roids?

Appears to be a Photon I Covert. I can't see the slide switch, and I doubt that a business would use a more expensive product if they didn't intend to use all its features. (the Photon 2 would be a few dollars more?)

Still looks nice though. And the jeweled Photon in the other catalog too. Something for that special suit.

Re: Photon on \'roids?

Hi, I live just a few miles from the company that makes the steel "photon", I could probably find out what it actually is if anybody is really interested. Their web site is www.dalvey.com ,it does not tell you anymore, but they do have some nice products. I especialy like the folding cup.

Re: Photon on \'roids?

Hi davidc. I for one, would like to know if this is a high ouput led like the Photon 2.
Thanks.

David,
Welcome aboard. Do you own the folding cup? If so, how has it been in actual use?

Re: Photon on \'roids?

Hi,
Phred, I spoke to a helpfull lady at Dalvey today, she said she would ask the production people and ring me back. She phoned back to say that it is indeed a Photon.
Kogatana, I have not had experience of the folding cup, but am planning to buy one very soon for my father, I will let you know what it is like then.

off topic: What's the matter with the folding cup?

But I'm also affected by this devices. As I wrote before, I wanted (unsuccessfully) to buy a (real) golden MiniMagLite some time ago.

Re: Photon on \'roids?

pelu,
I am thinking about acquiring this product. I would like to know if it is functional.

Re: Photon on \'roids?

KT. I'll let you know if it's functional when I get mine. I just ordered one. I too have a spot in my heart

Re: Photon on \'roids?

Thanks, phred.

...aahhh, stainless!

Re: Photon on \'roids?

I sure would like to see it next to the ARC AAA.

There is just something about stainless steel that just appeals to me. ...perhaps the low(er) maintenance required. I 've been hooked since my dad brought back a stainless S&W Chief's Special after a couple of tours in Nam.

BTW, I've enoyed Walt's writing for several years now.

Re: Photon on \'roids?

Hello All. Just got my Photon on 'roids and is it ever so. HUGE. 55x40x13mm. It is pretty. The metal case seems a bit thin but not to much so. Also the outer rim has a black rubber-like edge protector/gasket between the case halfs. Switch is a momentary push on the back side that is the same rubber-like material. All packed in a nice presentary case with a keychain. On to the light. It is bright, however as we know, Photon's drop off quite a bit after the initial wow factor. The color is white with a slight blue tint. I put it up against an ARC-LE with one hour on the battery. Darn close in brightness but the LE has the brighter, tighter beam and the Dalvey beam is kind of blobby.
My final opinion is, I like it.

Any reviewers want to test it? I do want it back.

KT. You found this. Any questions?
