For a larger version and a lot of amazing pictures of the LHC, try:

(May load very slowly on dial up)

This has to be the largest scientific experiment in the world!

Looks like a Petzl Zoom - an old Petzl incandescent headlamp.

Yup ..old and new Petzl headlamps. Still if they light up the work area thats what counts. Bet its his old favorite from adventures in the Alps and now he gets free batteries.

I saw a Discovery Ch documentary on that place. Everyone had on hardhats with
Petzl Tikka plus's strapped on em. Dozens of workers lowering a huge magnet into the 'Ring'!. Even the guys with suits.

It makes me feel good to know I've got the same HL that the guys who'll create the first and last blackhole on Earth. :ohgeez::ohgeez::eek:hgeez.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is a bad idea (read:black hole) should we really be messing around trying to recreate the same conditions that created our UNIVERSE here on our only EARTH?! Sometimes I think science goes too far. Maybe they should focus their efforts on creating a new led that makes 1000lm/w and costs $5. With all the money and effort they spent on this Hadron Collider, I'm sure they could. Now THAT would be something!
