Headlamp? Why do I need a headlamp?

+

If someone questions the need for a headlamp, they don't/can't fix things themself.

Ever a situation in life I could only have three lights total, a headlamp would absolutely be my first pick.

The headlights help me not panic when fishing at night. It provide better vision.

HLs are essential for working in the dark. But walking around with one is just irresponsible. It is almost impossible to forget you are wearing it and blinding someone in the dark. (and, IMO, seldom do you need any light at all when walking around if there is any ambient light at all.)

I use my night vision when walking my dog at night. This way I can see what's going on and not give away my location.
Agree.

I bought a red LED headlamp for the purpose, but it has to be set way too bright to let me see the terrain. I thought about tightening the strap and wearing it just above my knee, but haven't done so; seems simpler to just wear in on my hand.

I only need it for walking trails in the woods when ambient light is too faint. It does make the more ugly root-strewn trails doable in the dark.

I much prefer to remain unseen, and only use it when necessity forces.

You could also use this location app [suspicious link removed] to find out without sharing your actual location with Google.

Cool theme. We need to persuade Gene Malkoff to make an L-shaped head on the current bodies for 123 and AA. And maybe add a reverse click to them instead of McClick for convenience of sorting through modes. 3 modes will be ideal. And maybe a wider reflector, ~20 degrees hotspot. This could be the Zebra killer, at least for me

I remembered this movie

Why do I need a headlamp? Because I'm tired of drooling all over the flashlight in my mouth.
I find when doing electronics work requiring both hands e.g. soldering, a headlamp helps when fixed lighting is not quite enough. Sometimes it will be looking down an opening which is hard to otherwise get light into.

I can relate to holding flashlight in mouth, it can work in a pinch but only works for some of the smaller ones; penlights and 1-2 AA/AAA typically, and they still get drooled on!

No need for anything fancy/expensive, I keep a number of cheap ones around for this and other purposes.

I tried the app (before the link was deleted): it mapped my location to be approximately 22 miles east of my actual location.

One star only. Not recommended.
