Best headlamp for crawlspaces and attics?

I have a box full of head lamps. The latest one is a rechargeable Black Diamond, which is a top rated hiking light. My new business (home inspections) is a lot of crawlspace and attic crawling. I'm disappointed with the black diamond. It doesn't stay in place crawling under duct work and floor joists. If I grab it to use as a flash light to look at something, the touch sensitive panel on the side goes to full bright, which is annoying.

I looked at those LED light band types, but they get bad reviews for being junky.

What's a quality, rechargeable head lamp with lots of wide angle light that'll stay in place while crawling around? I probably need a spelunking/caving light. I don't need "features" like red, strobe, a million dimming settings, etc.

My favourite compact headlamp is Acebeam H15. It's pricey, but it performs very good, with a nice and even wide beam.

The best headlamp I have ever owned is a Zebralight H604c. The flood, the lumens range, and the color has allowed me to work on all sorts of things from automotive to electrical wiring. It stays on my head at odd angles. I could not recommend a Zebralight in a flood configuration high enough! Best of luck.

I just received the h604d a few minutes ago. I can tell that I'm going to love it for close up to medium range work. CRI is excellent as expected, and it puts out plenty of light. I'll probably use it at medium output. As this is my first light with a side-mounted emitter, I amateurishly turned it on without noticing that it was pointing at my face. That was about 5 minutes ago, and I'm still seeing spots as I type this. (I'm only admitting this to emphasize the brightness.) I understand that this light has a couple of disco modes, but thankfully they are unobtrusive under normal conditions - which is to say that I have not even found them yet and don't plan to look.

Since your problem is that your existing headlamps do not stay in place crawling under duct work and floor joists; I would suggest Fenix headlamps with the suffix "T". This suffix means that the headlamp in question has a unique headband adjustment mechanism. It can be tigthened and loosened with only one hand and without removing the headlamp from the head. Not everyone likes this concept but I am among those who do. I have the HL18R-T and HM65R-T but there are other options with the suffix "T" as well. I tigten them when I work in awkward positions but they don't have to stay as tight, afterwards. It is very easy to adjust them on the go. Check the Fenix website.

I second the Fenix HM65R-T
Great band- no over the head strap, can wear it easily with a ball cap on.
2 buttons- 1 for flood, 1 for throw.
Its a full time headlight- No insert right angle into clamp. Strap it on and go!

I really like my Wizard C2 Pro Warm. But I do not wear it on my head. I have lots of headlamps though. Zebralight H604d is on my list. That is a more powerful version of this H503 I have. Great lights. Wizard has a magnetic cap so for my use that was my pick for a work light.
