Mine ran flat out for the full 40 minutes as advertised. Man it gets pretty hot.

My GL4R is istill running strong abd bright at 40 minutes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif GL4R dimmed out at 80 minutes but still running, went out at 83 minutes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif can't really get any better than that. best flashlight I have ever owned.

Hi madecov, was that with 168's or 168'a or something different in your GL4R

The standard issued battery on GL2R and GL4R is 168A which is rated 1800mah

Well said; I agree 100% The GL4 is the best light I own, and I own MANY. For more details see my post here

Thank you Jon for selling me the 'BEST'.

Edit-now the link works.

I have several of the older 9v lamps. I am running the light with the newer 12v lamp.

I will be doing a review of the long term use of the GL4R under less than ideal conditions soon as I have carried it on duty for almost a year. I have dropped it, kicked it, banged it, and just generally not babied it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

madecov - 12V lamp? Seems strange as two Li ion cells have a nominal voltage of 2x3.7 = 7.4V. Granted that the "12V" lable may not tell the whole story, but 4 123A puts out a minimum of 10.4V (2.6V each) so the 12V may in reality be 10.4V. Even then, 7.4V is rather on the low side. A "9V" module with a real 7.8V rating would seem rather more reasonable. Wolf Eyes Canada lists the lamp module in the M90 (with 2x LRB168) as a 9V and the one in the M90X (4x 123A) as 12V. But their Chinese site lists both as 12V. I am confused. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

All of the newer GL4R/M90x are being shipped with the newest version lamp listed as 12v
The GL3RX uses a 9v lamp that is the same as the original GL4/M90 lamp. I'm no engineering type so I just know that the 12v is brighter on 4xDL123's and dimmer with longer run on the 150A batteries. It works for me.

Madecov, do you know how the beams compare between the GL4 and the SL Ultra Stinger? I have the SL & am now considering a GL4R. Also, could you or maybe someone else post some GL4 beam shots.
Thanks, Brian

Ultra has a much more concentrated beam and a longer throw. Of course it's a much larger light. For general use the GL4 is a better light. The Ultra is less suited to general use and is better at long throw needs as it has almost no side spill. My Ultra tends to sit idle now that I use the GL4R
