I just order some pixel strip to play with it, those strip are build with 5050 RGB leds with a WS2811 chip inside, you can control each led individualy, three wires, 5v, ground and data...

Interesting, hadn't seen these before, 5050 RGB with a built-in serial interface? Potentially useful for me, cutting down components and mcu PWM pin requirements, but also opening a whole new can of assorted worms to work through...
