My wife and I are staying with my MIL for a week. She had a ceiling lamp that was blinking. I opened up the light and found this inside there.

What should I know about these? I read that there are adapters, but also read that it basically requires rewiring the fixture. (Maybe that just means the ballast needs to be removed.)

Considering that the ballast will eventually fail, my vote would be to replace the fixture with something that uses regular Edison-base 120v bulbs. The G24 base is a bit off the beaten path so there will always be a poorer selection of replacement bulbs for that type of socket.

It is ironic that you post that. We are on vacation right now, thus I don't have any tools with me. I suggested to my MIL that she hire someone to replace this and replace any others of that type in her condominium, too.
