I just picked up a Dorcy AAA out at Walmart. Although the quality stinks, it really does work pretty well. For six bucks I wasn't expecting much and it probably is worth about the asking cost. Now, what I really want is someone (manufacturer) to build something like this light, only in a super high quality version. I know, the price will be higher but this type of light is what we want correct??? I guess it's what I want, after discovering the Key-Lux AA, a Key-Lux AAA kinda light would be very cool with a pushy-twisty tailcap with real threads on the thing, unlike the Dorcy! Indeed, a nicer Dorcy would be nice with the 'extras' built with more quality would be nice. I wouldnt mind the switch being redone. More of a Arc AAA type style. Or just something different. The key holder/peiced of metal doesnt seem very reassuring at all. But I will say, the overall durability for the DorcyAAA is darn good. I got a few, with the intention to destroy one. I promise you, I did horrible stuff to it, thinking it would die, but never seemed to do so. I threw it as far as I could down the street, scratched it obviously, but still worked just as could. Slammed it to the ground as hard as I could, nothing happened. I took it into a pool, and even though it was waterproof at all, it still worked. It was full of water and just needed to be dried out to stop any corrosion, and being a very simple way of taking it apart, that was easy. I am rather impressed with the DorcyAAA and only ask they redo the key holder metal thing, but I am not unsatisfied by it.

Dorcy's AAA, AA's, and C LED lights all feature amazing price/performance. I wouldn't say the quality is terrible - just that it's not up to the standards of some lights costing many times more.

Common complaints about Dorcy lights are rough threading, "migrating" grips, overdriven LEDs, wildly-varying LED tint, the goofy "hang ring," some production QC issues that lead to intermittent contacts, and marginal water resistance.

I don't like the design of the tailcap on the AAA and AA models - it looks crude. The threaded metal looks to have been drawn or stamped, and the "knurling" is cheesy at best. If Dorcy had used more substantial tube stock for the body, they could have integrated the tailcap better for cleaner lines.

The lack of water resistance is very disappointing given the use of O-rings throughout the design - the tailcap again.

Overall, it's like a Toyota Corolla vs a Land Cruiser. The Corolla will get you there fairly reliably, but not with the level of comfort or over the rough terrain a Land Cruiser can handle.
