Please help... I\'m confused

Hi guys. I am looking at buying a Minimag and installing a drop-in module. I have done a lot of reading to try and understand the different variations but I am totally confused by it all. Which module would give me the closest performance to an ARC LSHF-P w/2AA pack? What would the runtime be like in comparison? Are these kits available to Canadian customers? Thanks!

Hi bigred,

I assumed you've already read this thread "MadMax & BadBoy Runtime Graphs (fixed pics)" regarding BB & MM runtime

If you get the 1W sandwich I would assume the runtime would be similar to ARC-LS (4+ hrs) but if you get a Lux3 then it would about an hour.

I personally would go for a BB750 w/Lux3T when it's available again.

I'm also just a newbie to CPF so if any info is incorrect please correct me.

BB750 is brighter than the ARC LS. BB300, BB400 or Madmax Lite should be closer to the ARC LS. Either 1W or 3W is fine, but if you like the LSHF type beam, you should get the one with Fraen optic.

The runtime depends on the type of battery - Alkaline, NiMH, Lithium and so on. NiMH will give you three to four hours runtime with BB300, BB400 or Madmax Lite.

Yup, My BB400 with NX05 and Lux III is just about the same as my ARC LSH-P

Thanks for the responses guys. So what else can be done to the Minimag after the module is installed? Can a kroll switch be added? What about the lens?

Yes, you can install a kroll switch to replace the original tailcap.
You can also get the mineral glass lens as well.

Using rechargeble AA batteries will also help out in saving $$$ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

One thing I've noticed from my own builds though could save you a few bucks. About 500 mA and below, the light from a 1W and 3W are pretty close. From there on up the 3W makes a noticeable difference. I also personally prefer a reflector instead of a lens because it produces more spill, same size hotspot that is round not square, and better transition. Just my 2 cents. Oh yeah, definitely go with the better lens.
