Hello all,

***Please let me know if there's a more appropriate forum for this topic.***

I'd like a high powered spotlight for use in close proximity to my house. It doesn't need to be lightweight or carried on my person. I'm guessing that something that plugs into an outlet might be the most cost effective, but that's only a guess.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

Could you give more explanation as to your intended uses? Most plug-in spot lights plug into a car's cigarette lighter.

The one linked there is a flood light rather than spot.

I think you'll find most spot lights of the description you give are 12V for use with a car, so you'd need to get a 110V AC --> 12V DC adapter for it, or maybe just use a spare car 12V LA battery.

However it looks as if you definitely want a dedicated 110V unit, so I'll move the thread to fixed lighting.

Thanks for the guidance, guys.

Actually throw is important. I'm seeking a light to locate my cats as they commit mischief around my neighborhood. I live at the top of a hill so have some great line of sight (if that's the term).

The only reason I suggested a plug-in model was because I thought it would offer the most bang for the buck, but if I'm wrong on that please set me straight.

You could buy a high powered halogen type battery powered spotlight, and then replace the bulb with a similar 120v version, and wire up an extension cord...
