i thought id share it with ya all.
This is How It Feels
This Is How It Feels To Know You Can Die Any Moment Without Warning
Or Maybe Even Worse Turn Into A Vegetable
And You Are So Terrified You Can't Make A Sound
And You're Desperately Seeking Someone To Hear You
And No One Is There.

Dragons in Our Souls
Our fears have been given fundamental wings
that eviscerate our minds, our logic, our basic human rights
while present day royalty reads to an innocent child,
knowing when if not where the flames will come.

We hear the hum of dragons in our souls yet turn,
blind eyed toward the host.
He is illuminated in gold,
pyrite mined gold.

Our books are burning in the snow.
Fueled by indiscriminate hate,
we justify the end.

Masked
For days on which my soul
has lost its face,
I ask forgiveness.

For days on which my soul
has found its face,
I ask forgiveness.

A heart alone bleeds dry,
circumscribing
dawn into day
stars into night.

A heart alone cuts glass
with razored teeth,
learns borders it did not know,
fastens doors that weep erect,
holds sentries accountable.

A heart alone bleeds.

Morning 12/30
I have 3 monsters who
generally speaking
keep to themselves
except when the day
has wound down
wrong
or the morning
comes too soon
and i remember
all those days
weeks
months
years
i have failed someone else
and thus haunted,
fail my self.

Very melancholy, but powerful. The poem "Masked" had me make a double-take: the second stanza has a lot more meanings than meet the eye! Imagine having to ask forgiveness for the face of your soul!
