possible IR cut filter?

A CVS digital one time use camera, which retails anywhere from 11- $20 has a rather large, square IR cut filter mounted over the camera's CCD. Of course, the camera has to be completely disassembled to access the IR filter, but this might be a fairly cheap way to filter green laser IR radiation, if the laser is not already equipped with an IR filter.

I have no idea how much this filter blocks, but I know it is not blocking all of the IR. The IR appears attenuated when viewed on my IR pass only webcam when compared to a non-IR green laser of the same power. Should anyone decide to tackle this and report more accurate findings, I'm sure your results would be greatly appreciated. The small square filter easily fit into the front of one of my Leadlight clones, directly over the lens and it completely covers it.

it really depends on what wavelengths the filter blocks. most camera ccd's are sensitive to IR from 900-1300nm usually, and what leaks form dpss lasers is NIR, 808nm, with maybe a hint of 1064 and a handful of other trace lines.

the filter may not block the majority of the 808 at all.

An old webcam's IR filter I had lying around actually seems to block more IR. So much so, that my IR sensitive camera can't detect the IR reflections from the laser unlike the reflections when using the CVS filter.
