Possible uses for the Surefire Hellfighter ?

Hi there,

today I charged my batteries to be ready for new adventures with my HFs :naughty:

Month ago I decided to mount them on the roof of my car ... but additional lights are not allowed in Germany on public streets.
But it is so sad to banish them with fully charged batteries in the sling bag or a show case ... that is not, what they deserve :mad:

I would like to read or better SEEE some options, what you have done with these lovely monsters ...

Can you mount it behind the grill?

You can shine it out the window to look for house numbers.

With a little shrouding to avoid glare, you can put it on the dash top against the windshield.

If you use the IR filter and night vision goggles, you won't have a "Light" on the roof...as in, no "light you can see" comes out of it....but with the goggles, you can see pretty damn well....and you won't cause anyone one to experience glare.

Of course, with NV on, YOU will experience galre from THEIR oncoming lights. (Unless you have the newer ones that stop down in natural/bright light, etc.)

Out there are 20000+ HFs ... what are you doing with them ( in non-military-environments)?? :-)
Walking with the dog at night .. hiking ... searching for the key hole(hrhr) ... understandable ... but what else??

I do search and disaster response, etc....typically from a moving rig if using the HF, and, that's about all I use it for. Its a bit heavy for walking the dog, or even hiking around, considering the power requirements, etc.

I don't have a SFHF, but I do have a Maxabeam, which kinda falls into the same "big gun" category.

I use mine to take the bin out, going for a walk at night, and pointing the beam at the sky and giggling like a small child.

I do actually use it at work too, but not very often.

So are you saying it's illegal to use any additional lights at all in Germany including Hella driving lights like the Hella FF4000 Rallye’s?
If so driving at night in the country must be dangerous I am sure you would have deers over there.

If that was law in Australia so many more animals & people would be killed on our roads. I have never hit a kangaroo or wombat since fitting additional lights on my vehicle. The stock High beam lights on most vehicles are just not good enough. Only last weekend my lights saved a small wombat from death. I seen him 700 meters away giving me plenty of time to slow down for him.
