I have my surveymonkey account active for a client at this time, so it's basically "free" for me to run any other survey I want while it's active. I'd like to run a headlamps survey. I'm curious what the most popular headlamps are among CPF'ers.

Because there are so many headlamps out there, I've decided not to list every model separately. Instead I'm going to list "Brand-by-Battery."

I'm asking for your help to see if the following list is complete. I don't know much about the throwy headlamps so could you please tell me what I need to add to the following list to make it complete.

Remember, this thread is not the survey. So no need to post what you own in this thread. Wait until the survey is live. It will be under a separate thread in the near future.

Also, if there are simple questions you're curious about...that aren't too complicated (I want this to be an easy, short survey) I may consider adding a few questions. The problem with a comprehensive survey is, the more questions you ask, the fewer people take the survey. I can always do another survey later, and "reserve the right" to put complex questions into a later survey. This survey is primarily aimed at what lights are most popular on CPF, which are owned the most.

Here's the list so far (will update as corrections & additions come in):

you forgot Streamlight, Coast, Brunton/Silva, Primus, Pelican, Underwater Kinetics, Brinkmann, Dorcy, Cyclops, Duracell, not to mention all the rebranded lights by eGear, River Rock, Coleman, Eddie Bauer, Cabelas, Browning, Smith&Wesson, etc., and the generic Chinese lights that just say "LED Headlamp" on the straps.

Edit: i'm sure i'll miss some battery configs cuz among other things, the older Brunton/Silva lights had some odd battery options which they no longer offer. also, i'd include a category for rebranded/generic lights because i think several CPFer's have them and they come in discreet battery configs. i listed them below (i would include Dorcy among the generic/rebranded lights because none of their offerings that i have seen are unique to them).

Streamlight 2xAAA
Streamlight 3xAAA
Streamlight 3xAA
Streamlight 2XCR123
Coast 1xAAA

Generic/Rebranded lights include lights by brands such as Dorcy, eGear, River Rock, Coleman, Eddie Bauer, Cabelas, Browning, Smith&Wesson, etc. which are not unique to any particular brand/maker.

also

Princeton Tec 2xAAA
Black Diamond 1x6volt
iTP 1xAAA
Ultrafire Zebra knockoffs

I know it's a lot to ask, but can you give me the additional manufacturers by cell type? As I have done in the initial post? (Sorry to ask, but I don't know the brands well enough to do it myself)

I think I will skip all of the rebranded lights and all the generics.

A few suggestions:

Black Diamond 4xAA
Black Diamond 4xAA+6v
Pelican 3xAA
Petzl 2xAA (Micro)
Petzl 4xAA
Petzl 4xC
Princeton Tec 2xAA
Stenlight Rechargeable Pack

looking at that list and remembering that they're mostly incan headlamps, i got all nostalgic. i'm gonna go dig up my old PT Vortec right now.

I know it's a good while late on this thread, but I'd really like to find this survey you guys are talking about. I'm wanting to buy a good headlamp and after seeing this website I've now figured out that there are way more different brands and types that I could ever imagine! Thanks

i think all the result were posted in the third thread in Bolster's sig line. but it looks like all the charts were lost along with all his other pics. :(

Great work so far! If I am reading this correct, the Spark 2AA format is missing from your Spark list.

Oh great, that what I get for taking my tablet to the throne......OOPs... Back to wating for my Spark reflector to arrive..
