Hey,
Ive found good deal (I think) on Primus Primlite T Trek like this one http://walkhigh.co.uk/acatalog/info_2346.html but its just a bit under powered.

Does anyone know what LED I can do a direct swap with to make it a bit more powerful? Then I might buy it. :twothumbs

Thanks
James

I, yo6ial, hereby resurrect this thread for the lack of info on the matter :D

Ok, I was frustrated, the last few months because I had no usable headlight and even if I went for a while in the bush and had my trusty hand-held 14500 edc... the lack of a headlamp was pressing me.
I never saw a PrimeLite sold 2nd hand. I really liked that light the first time I saw it in the shop and yearned for it all along...
So, thinking that if there are no 2nd hand PrimeLite C/A CT/CA, it has to be a pretty good light that people hold-on to.
Gripped my wallet, fiddled with my card and I finally bought it.

I wanted the "T" version but lacking the money and availability of the "T" model, I settled fot the "CT" model.
It's the latest in the row, and as I know, no longer produced.
It has a Luxeon Rebel inside, aside the 6 5mm's. The Rebel is in the 5000k region and as far as I now (not measured yet) is pumped with 1watt.
The led is pretty offset and I will discard it soon with a XM-L. I don't think I'll try to mod the current (amperage) settings as the little regulating chip doesn't look it could handle much current. I will be happy with a 130lm at high.

Here's the juicy stuff:

@TGr said it's glued. Mine ain't. You'll see two latches in the center of upper and lower sides.
Remove the silicone ring around the battery holder.
Pry gently with a plastic screw-driver or even warier with a utility knife. 1mm is enough.
Use a toothpick's tip to keep one side pried while working on the other.
Pull gently on the nylon webbing to extract the guts from the case.
The rest is kiddy-play.

Hope it helps. It is an easy modable light. I think (remains to be seen) It could be moded to drive the 6 white 5mm's like the A/CA version in a 2 - 6 configuration. There are some unpopulated areas on the PCB and those got me thinking... remains to be seen.
Oh, the star is a 16mm round MCPCB so it's swappable with widely available stars.
The reflector has a 2.5mm opening for the Rebel's dome so It will fit a XP-E readily and XM-L with some careful filing.
And, no. I don't think this light could fit comfortably a SSR-90.
:D
Cheers!!!
