wow! same Lux as UK 4aa LED but UK has more total output and is regulated. now i see why many people don't care much for the PT Impact XL!! although i just got 4 Impact XL's in the mail from KSBMan(thnx! got them for $15 each from Gander Mountain) for my wives boss to keep in the office, and i thought they were pretty nice! i have a UK 4aa eled as well and from memory the PT's looked brighter???? mind is probably just playing tricks on me. anyways, glad i got the UK instead though.
 
4x4: Good catch! I didn't make that comparison.

And if you go one step further and look at the prices out there: $20 still for the regulated UK, but around $30 for the unregulateed PT, the UK just makes sense UNLESS you really need that long, low output illumination at the tail of the discharge curve provided by the PT for emergency lighting if you were unable to change out batteries.
 
i must be lucky. my impact xl makes over 700lux at 1 meter. it is surprisingly bright. it is also very white with just a hint of greenish-blue.
